Peak Family Medicine™ was founded in Montrose, Colorado in 2015 with a belief that remains at the center of everything we do: strong communities need strong, independent primary care.
Across America, independent medical practices have faced increasing pressure from rising operating costs, increasingly complex healthcare administration, consolidation, and reimbursement that has often failed to keep pace with inflation. In smaller communities, those pressures can be especially difficult. Without the economies of scale available to large health systems, independent practices are often left to navigate an increasingly complex healthcare system on their own.
We believed there had to be another way.
Peak Family Medicine™ set out to build a sustainable model of independent primary care capable of serving a broad community, including patients covered by Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance and workers’ compensation, as well as patients who pay directly for their care. Our goal was not to create a boutique practice for a narrow segment of the population. It was to build a high-functioning community medical practice capable of caring for families across the economic and insurance spectrum.
That model centers on excellent healthcare providers supported by a strong team, efficient operations, evidence-based medicine, reliable access, and a patient experience built around relationships rather than institutions. As an independent outpatient practice, Peak Family Medicine™ provides care without the hospital facility fees that can accompany care delivered through hospital-owned settings.
For more than a decade, Peak Family Medicine™ has developed, tested, and refined this approach in Montrose. The result is a system designed to support comprehensive primary care while preserving the independence, personal relationships, and community connection that make local medicine valuable. The franchise system now extends that operating model to qualified healthcare professionals and organizations seeking to establish Peak Family Medicine™ practices in other communities.
